2025 Instructions, readings and suggestions for test preparation
Each school will decide independently when to administer the test depending on their academic schedule. The Foundation requires to receive the selected finalists‘tests by Friday, March 7th, 2025.
The readings are:
1) A Short History of the Italian Renaissance, Chapter 6 Cox (1-45)
2) A Short History of the Italian Renaissance, Chapter 1 Cox (1-19)
3) The Medici Women, Tomas (1-6)
4) Hamilton,Adams,Jefferson by D.Staloff (3-13)
5) The Italian Renaissance by J.H. Plumb (192-237)
Based on the test results and personal interviews with the Advisory Committee, two students from each participating school will be selected as winners of the 2025 Award. These 18 students, along with four chaperones/teachers, will be awarded an all-expenses-paid, one-month academic program in Florence, Italy, during July 2025.
The program will take place at New York University’s Florentine campus, where students will study the evolution of the Italian Renaissance in art, architecture, literature, science, and politics. In addition to classes, students will receive guidance on writing their College Common Application essay. By the end of the program, each student will return home with a completed draft of their essay.
Beyond their academic studies, students will participate in educational excursions to cultural landmarks in Florence, Milan, Rome, Venice and surrounding regions of Florence.. These excursions will provide a deeper understanding of Renaissance culture and history.
All finalists will receive a certificate acknowledging their participation, which can be used for college applications. Above all, the Palazzo Strozzi Foundation USA hopes this program offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience that inspires students to pursue future endeavors in the spirit of the Renaissance.
